Management Experience

Africa Infrastructure comes with an extensive company and experts network with strong international experience. Our executives have been active in the infrastructure, power, agricultural, mining and real estate sector decades and have long-standing experiences and knowledge in structuring and managing financial products. Furthermore, our executives have business interests in several frontier and emerging countries on deploying and improving infrastructure networks.

In the last decade, our executives have originated more than a dozen investment funds in various asset classes, among others several infrastructure funds. Furthermore, they have been advising all kinds of investors on exclusive and innovative investment opportunities all over the world.

In addition to management’s own significant experience in the field, Africa Infrastructure has connections to a network of experts, guaranteeing a unique access to the market and cooperates with various specialized companies with longstanding experience in their respective field of business.

AIG’s broad range of experience can support the projects in many ways:

Fund raising, transaction structuring and fund management
  • More than 15 years law and tax consultant experience, specialising in corporate and investment law as well as in bank law, international contract law and international taxation
  • A current JV investment company will finance the construction of over 500 cell towers in Asia, requiring approx $45 million.
  • Team has issued and managed several US wireless infrastructure funds for German retail and HNW investors with over $70 million equity. Of the eight funds, four were public offers, and subject to regulatory approval in Germany; the remainder were private placements
  • Team has raised funding from around 850 German retail clients for investment in wireless infrastructure in the USA
  • Team structured and received approval from Luxembourg regulatory authorities for a SICAV investment vehicle for institutional investors investing in infrastructure in Nigeria. Team has also structured 17 public (with regulatory approval) and private placements for the German investor market in various asset classes
  • Team has structured and executed dozens of transactions as part of its fund and infrastructure management roles for various projects in locations worldwide
Network
  • AIG has an extensive network with access to international and development financial institutions:
    • Privileged access via China Office to all necessary partners related to a government financing via the Chinese Financial Institutions e.g. China Eximbank, CDB, ICBC etc.
    • Strong contacts at development banks and public lenders in Europe, e.g., KfW and DEG (Germany),  FMO (Netherlands), CDC (UK), PROPARCO (France) as well as at the IFC/World Bank. The AIG team has received public funding for many infrastructure related projects in emerging and frontier markets
    • Infrastructure projects will likely require insurance to make them “bankable”; AIG has a strong network to key providers of insurance in emerging markets such as political risk insurance etc. (i.e. MIGA)
